Andrew Moray was born into the wealthy and politically-influential Scottish family, the Morays of Petty, late in the second half of the 13th century; we don’t know his exact date of birth. The Morays of Petty, whose lands and political-powerbase were focused in the province of Moray in north-eastern Scotland, could trace their origins in the area to Friskin, a man of reputedly Flemish origins granted lands in Moray during the twelfth-century reign of King David I of Scotland.
Hello Andrew Moray thanks for taking the time to talk to me today:
Smith: So when did you go to war then, and with whom?
Moray: By the spring of 1296 together with my father and uncle but now I have to go.
